The municipality of Drechterland is an important connection between Hoorn and Enkhuizen. The characteristic ribbon development of the villages (Hoogkarspel, Wijdenes, Oosterleek, Venhuizen, Hem, Oosterblokker, Schellinkhout, Westwoud) and associated lands characterize this area on the Westfriese Omringdijk. Each village has retained its own identity, but the rural character can be found in all villages. Cattle, fruit cultivation, bulb fields and even wine growing are an important source of income here. Along the way you can find stalls with these products, fresh of the land!
Located next to the IJsselmeer
The location next to the IJsselmeer attracts plenty of swimmers, (kite) surfers and other water connoisseurs. The sailing routes through the polder, the extensive cycling- and hiking trails and the location on the Westfriese Omringdijk offer residents and tourists wonderful ways to enjoy all the beauty in this West Frisian municipality.
