Andijk

Andijk is a typical example of a West Frisian village. The village has declared itself the most extensive village in the Netherlands.

Watersport

Andijk has two well-equipped marinas and is therefore a favorite for many water sports enthusiasts. Recreation and nature reserve The Vooroever is particularly popular with water surfers, swimming enthusiasts and sun lovers.

Museums

In Andijk you will also find the Poldermuseum and Nationaal Saet & Cruytmuseum. In the hat museum Zet ´m Op  the owner tells about her special collection of more than 400 hats. You can fit some hats, so do not forget to bring your camera!

Tea garden & terrace

A beautiful tea garden is hidden on the Dijkweg. In Theetuin de Libel you can relax with all kinds of treats. Do you prefer a piece of homemade cake or a delicious Andoiker scone? From early spring to mid-September you can also visit the IJsselmeerdijk at Kit's terras. Here you can enjoy, among other things, pastries and traditional ice cream.

Stede Broec (Lutjebroek, Grootebroek en Bovenkarspel)

Surrounded by water and greenery, Stede Broec is an ideal area for cyclists, hikers and water sports enthusiasts.

The Overhaal

Housing area Broekerhaven is part of this municipality. You will find an inner and outer harbor with a special technical monument; The Overhaal. This boat lift was formerly used to transfer the horticultural vessels from the polder to the Zuiderzee. The restored Overhaal is now regularly used for pleasure cruising.

Molen Ceres

At the Broekerhavenweg is mill 'De Ceres'. This mill was built in 1620 in Wormerveer and has been in Bovenkarspel since 1848. The miller still regularly turns the blades. When the flag is hoisted, you can visit the mill.

Sunbathing and swimming

For a wonderful day of play, sunbathing and swimming you are welcome at Camping Broekerhaven. The site is located on the Markermeer and has various play facilities, a paddling pool and a sunbathing area.

Recreational center Streekbos

The Streekbos is a 72-hectare recreational area with beautiful walking and cycling paths, a natural swimming pond and sailing routes through the adjacent De Weelen nature reserve.

In addition to rest and space, you will also find the Streekbos pavilion in the Streekbos, where you will find his restaurant IJgenweis, the Observatory Orion and IVN Westfriesland. Do you like more action? Then the climbing park is more than worth a visit.

IJgenweis Food & Drinks

For a delicious cup of coffee, lunch or dinner you can go to IJgenweis Food & Drinks. This atmospheric restaurant with terrace on the water is located in the Streekbospavillon.

Observatory Orion

The pavilion also houses the Volkssterrenwacht Orion. The observatory has its own planetarium in the dome on top of the striking building. Viewings are regularly organized here. During these viewings telescopes are installed on the roof terrace.

Climbing park Streekbos

Do you like excitement, active activity and nature? At Ecological climbing park Streekbos you can climb safely between the trees and you go on challenging obstacles. A fun, adventurous and exciting day since May 8th, 2015!

IVN Westfriesland

IVN Westfriesland is also located in the Streekbospaviljoen. IVN (Institute for Nature Education and Sustainability) is working on a sustainable society. Their idea is that involvement in nature stimulates sustainable action. Interesting walks with a guide, lectures and fun workshops for children: IVN lets everyone, from young to old, experience nature close by.

Drechterland

The municipality of Drechterland is an important connection between Hoorn and Enkhuizen. The characteristic ribbon development of the villages (Hoogkarspel, Wijdenes, Oosterleek, Venhuizen, Hem, Oosterblokker, Schellinkhout, Westwoud) and associated lands characterize this area on the Westfriese Omringdijk. Each village has retained its own identity, but the rural character can be found in all villages. Cattle, fruit cultivation, bulb fields and even wine growing are an important source of income here. Along the way you can find stalls with these products, fresh of the land!

Located next to the IJsselmeer

The location next to the IJsselmeer attracts plenty of swimmers, (kite) surfers and other water connoisseurs. The sailing routes through the polder, the extensive cycling- and hiking trails and the location on the Westfriese Omringdijk offer residents and tourists wonderful ways to enjoy all the beauty in this West Frisian municipality.

Passantenhaven in Wijdenes

At the Markermeer in Wijdenes there is a marina. In this quiet harbor you can stay for up to two days in a row. The harbor is a resting point during a day trip or a lovely place to sit by the water during a cycling or walking tour. At the harbor there is a day recreation area with a beach.
 
Biking
Also in the municipality of Drechterland you will find the well-known cycling hubs of the cycle route network. In this way you create your own cycling route on the basis of the information panels on the road or on the basis of the cycling nodes map. Even via the internet it is possible to put together a bicycle route.
In the yearbook of Route.nl  you will find several beautiful cycling routes through Westfriesland, which also run through the municipality of Drechterland. For example the route 'Machtig Mooi Westfriesland' of 53.6 km or 'Weidse Uitzichten in Westfriesland of 45.5 km.
 
Hiking
The NS walking route De Weelen starts from the Hoogkarspel railway station. This walking route leads all the way to Enkhuizen through the beautiful nature reserve de Weelen. In addition, the Dutch Heart Foundation has developed marked walking routes in Hoogkarspel (4.6 km, from Sporthal de Sluis) and Venhuizen (4 km, from town hall ' t Centrum).

In the villages within the municipality of Drechterland there are various accommodation options, such as B & B's, campsites and Restinn cottages.
